Google Cardboard 2 is here with support for iOS and easier assembly

Google on Monday announced the second iteration of its Cardboard virtual reality headset at its annual I/O developer conference in San Francisco. Google Cardboard 2 will now support phones with screens up to 6-inches and adds a button for easier navigating. But that’s not it, Google Cardboard 2 will also support iOS.

Google previously unveiled its virtual reality ambitions at last year’s press event. Google Cardboard was well received as a cheap alternative for getting started with virtual reality. The older model used a magnet ring for navigation, which many users found frustrating. We agree, the ring on our office model fell off within a couple of weeks. The button, which is also made out of cardboard, is now said to work “with all devices” and will make navigating the Cardboard interface even easier.

While the original headset wasn’t particularly difficult to assemble, Clay Bavor, VP of Product Management at Google, noted that Google Cardboard 2 will be even easier to put together, consisting of only three steps
